Echeygaon

‘Echeygaon’ means ‘top’ in the local language. It is the topmost point of this area. It is situated at a height of 5800 ft. Echeygaon is a new destination for nature lovers who want ro spend few relaxing days in the lap of Himalalaya. It offers panoramic view of mountains. From dawn to dusk Kanchanjungha range could be seen clearly. In the evening the twinkling lights of Darjeeling is same to the twinkling stars of the sky. Echheygaon is surrounded by Sailikharka forest. History says that a lady who first visited the forest who was the third daughter of her parents. ‘Saili’ is the meaning of the 3rd daughter in local language. From Dalapchand to Damsung the forest is known according to her name. The jungle is also known as Echey forest. Forests consist pine, birch, junipher trees. Few rare orchids and colourful and bright canopy of Rhododendron is a visual pleasure. There is no fear, no crowd, no tension, no stress – the place has only happiness. Mountains and forests will recharge your mind.

By air you can reach Bagdogra airport and from there take a private car to reach Echheygaon. State Govt. and private bus bring you to Siliguri. By train reach NJP and from there rickshaw or car takes you at siliguri. From Siliguri you can reach Echheygaon by car or reach Kalimpong by State Transport or private bus or trekker or private taxi. From here reach Echheygaon hiring trekker or taxi. From NJP it takes 3 hrs. to reach here via Kalimpong. You can come here from Pedong which is 5km far from Echheygaon.
